Q&A - Personal

What inspires you to compete?

Most of the things that inspire me to compete are kids my age that just kill it and some of the pro surfers from the east coast like the Hobgood brothers and mainly Kelly Slater. My mom really pushes me to compete and helps me a lot. My Dad never competed when he was younger and he loves to see me go out in competitions and win them.

Why do you like this sport?

I like surfing because it is one of those sports that you love and you just can't get over it. Not many people surf and I am just lucky to be born right on the ocean and to have Dad that grew up doing this sport his whole life. You never get tired of surfing and you don't sweat like baseball or something.Surfing is one of the best things that has happened to me in my life.

Describe your style...

Well I surf with a lot of power and just love getting barrelled. I love just attempting new stuff and airs are really fun. A lot of my friends say I surf like Timmy Curran or Taylor Knox. Power and Speed is what I really focus on in surfing.

Do you train? What does your schedule look like?

I do train some what. I surf about 2 to 3 times a day. My Mom and Dad really help me get to the beach and competitions. I surf in the morning and then I might role down to a local spot like Assategue Island or go to Surf Beach to get a few waves. If i am not burn't out of surfing I will come back to the beach at 5:30 p.m. when the guards get off. I guess you could say I have a schedule.

What do you want to be when you grow up?

I really want to go pro in surfing. If that doesn't happen i want to go to colledge and compete in Lacrosse. I really would like to become a Marinebiologist or a photographer. Something cool like that.

Q&A - Competition

How did you get started?

I got started when one of my good friends told me about this competition. I did the competition when I was like 9 and did horrible. It was a good experience and I liked it.

List your competitive highlights:

This year I have placed 1st in two of my competitions and got a for-sure spot at Regionals in Puerto Rico this coming up Spring.

What are you planning for next season?

I am going to do some competitions that are sponsored by big companies and I am looking forward to joining the NSSA. I will do my ESA competitions next year too.

What has been your biggest accomplishment?

My biggest accomplishments this year so far have been making it to Regionals and getting sponsored by VonZipper glasses and clothing.
