Synopsis: Before Michel Bourez came along and stole the spotlight, Tamaroa McComb was the big name coming from Tahiti. Last year, after he chose to migrate from the South Pacific to the Gold Coast to be closer to the action, he won the trials at the Quik Pro, and then backed up that result with numerous Pro Junior accolades. For all intents and purposes, he still is the next big thing.
Variables: The rub on Tamaroa is that ha may have a bit of a “gangsta” chip on his shoulder. Given the economic times in which we find ourselves, nobody wants to see a spoiled young pro surfer pout. A little humility goes a long way.
Forecast: Tamaroa’s still very young, and is just now starting to really tune his surfing. His Tahitian heritage and days on the Goldie will serve him well, and it’s only a matter of time before he joins Michel on tour.
