Oh, and he’s one of the best young tuberiders out there. Back-to-back wins in Australia at the beginning of 2009 have only solidified his reputation.
Variables: In the past, Owen has been criticized for struggling to deal with his lanky frame; however, that “awkward phase” is now well behind him.
Forecast: Having competed in the Pipeline Masters at 16, he’s no stranger to competition, or Pipeline for that matter. His competitive success in Australia is only bettered only by his freesurfing performances at Pipeline this past winter.
