Synopsis: Kalani David brings an air of gromness to the table unseen since the likes of John John, circa 2001. From the shag haircut to his prowess in the water, Kalani has truly become the uber-grom. Growing up with some of the best waves in the world—which happen to be nestled in his backyard—he’s been seen tearing apart everything from Ehukai to Rocky Point, and it’s only a matter of time until he gets Pipe wired.
Variables: Kalani is not only ridiculously talented in the water, but he’s also quite adept at the skate park. It’s hard to mention his name on the North Shore without someone saying. “Have you seen him skate?” We just hope his allegiances lay with fins, not wheels.
Forecast: Still not even a teenager, Kalani already has a national title as well as an AirShow win at the T&C Gromfest. If he sticks with the path he’s on, it could prove to be golden.
