February 3, 1990 // Lahaina, Hawaii
Synopsis: Last year was a monumental year for Granger. He surfed in his first World Tour event as a wildcard at J-Bay, and then went on to become the most talked-about surfer at Nationals, winning every heat he surfed in, save one. Progression defined.
Variables: It’s not easy to pick apart Granger’s surfing, as there aren’t a lot of blemishes to dissect. Whether he’s in a heat or freesurfing, Granger’s about as legit as they come.
Forecast: The talent is there and so is the drive. If the six-time NSSA National champ can continue to mesh the two, he will certainly be a future world-title contender.
