The Governator Cup was held at RiverJetties on the Eve of Halloween October 30th, 2004.The Governator himself showed up at the end to give away the prizes, and the Volcom custom trophies. The surf was peaky in the morning with some left over swell. Therewere more than 120 competitors showing up for some Holloween fun.

The girls division had the best showing yet for theStarfish. Even some young WQS up and comersturned out to compete. Volcom`s own Sarah Hoffertshowed up flying high over the competitors but in theend, it would be Newport`s finest Erica Hosseini whotook the final and a bag full of goods.

Groms were once again in full force. Some were evendressed up for the occasion. The final was stackedwith some good San Diego County Groms. Riley Metcalfwas the clear favorite all day long but fell shortduring the final. It was a close race between JoshHromin, and Brent Reilly. Brent was just firing on allcylinders and he took home a sector 9 deck and bagfull of goods.

The regular faces showed up to surf in the Juniordivision. Allan Kincade, Jason Harris, and MikeChandler put on a good showing but couldn`t come closeto Bones, and Daniel Shea. The two local boys surfedoutstanding but I guess since it was Halloween Eve.Bones of the living dead, had to win plus it was hisfirst final appearance this year, he won a Body Glove full suit and bag full of prizes.

The Pro-Am final was a tight race between Nate Tyler,Josh Hoyer, Brandon Guilmette, and Blake Howard.Brandon, and Blake had a good showing but it was Nate,and Josh who took the heat. Both had good waves but inthe end during a count back Josh Hoyer had the edge and terminated Nate Tyler from the win. Josh Hoyer walked away with a Sector 9 deck, Vestal watch, a bag full of goods, and the $400 first place prize. The Governator personally handed the cash to Josh and told him that he neededto work out, because he looks like a girly man.
