Blood may run thicker than water in the South, but when your blood spends enough time in the water to warrant a pair of gills, where does that leave you? As a Heaverly, of course. With a dad who shapes and uncles who spend a good amount of time on boards as well, this pair of brothers has the support system in place to take their surfing beyond their home of Emerald Isle in North Carolina. Both have found results in the NSSA, and like good southern boys they prefer to let their actions speak louder than words. “They’re quiet kids,” says SURFER staff photographer Kevin Welsh, “but whenever I see them in the water they always blow up.”
