Definitely surfing, it has a few extra elements that overpower skating. Surfing is a three part movement (fyi the wave moves) and creates a more intense, improvised need for action and adrenaline.
Well, I don't believe to be efficient enough at skating to compete; skating is my "bored sport." I have always had a strong desire to surf competitively in longboard events (my labor of love), but scheduling events can take up to six months in the gulf and competitive times never match my availability. Now that I'm going to college in Tallahassee, I'll be only 2 hours from the east coast and will have the luxury of competing in the NSSA Men's Longboard Open 2009-2010 season.
I'm older now and extreme sports are still a defining factor in my life; having part ownership of Excalibur Skateshop for almost two years and having the opportunity to work with dozens of sales reps and products, believe that there is more value to certain companies and their products than others; and those are the products I wish to promote. Trust me kids, these sponsors, no matter what contract one might have with them or how much money we all put in their pockets, still have an outrageous desire to help the global surf and skate community grow; and I intend to help them.
I wish only to push the youth to skate, surf, defy stereotypes, and learn to work with their peers and local government to make ends meet for the global community. Even though there are a plethora of skaters out there that usurp my abilities beyond my years, I still understood and had the desire and ability to facilitate; so I opened a skate store out of the back of my trunk, then opened a store, and finally sold it forward; It is still to this day operating.
At sponsorhouse, the majority of my orders and promotions are taken care of through rider support teams; I can develop relationships with reps that care as much about the community as I do.
